The Project: IFC’s recently launched Belarus Food Safety Improvement Project endeavours to increase the competitiveness of Belarusian food producers by improving their food safety practices raising awareness and facilitating wider implementation of best international food safety management practices (based on HACCP and ISO 22000), build stronger local consulting capacity, and improve selected regulations and building the capacity of Belarusian regulators in line with international best practice.
 
FOOD SAFETY SPECIALIST:
Scope of the job: The Food Safety Specialist will be responsible for recruiting and advising food processing companies on their needs related to food safety management. In addition to direct involvement with company interventions and support to IFC Investment Services, the Food Safety Specialist will also provide technical support to the project in its public awareness, training, and policy activities. The position requires solid technical skills, excellent relationship abilities, and strong multitasking capacity.
 
Requirements/Qualifications:
· University degree or professional qualification in the area related to food safety;
· At least three years of work experience in food safety as food safety specialist in food processing company or consulting company;
· Hands-on knowledge of international food safety management systems and Belarusian agribusiness;
· Strong analytical skills and proven ability to quickly produce concise and well structured reports and presentations;
· Well grounded business sense and ability to effectively communicate with business leaders and policy makers;
· Active user of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
· An advanced command of Russian, English and Belarusian;
· Willingness and ability to travel across Belarus and in the region.
 
LEGAL CONSULTANT:
Scope of the job: The Legal Consultant shall provide insight into concrete legal issues and challenges faced by agricultural and food sector in the country, and thus not only have outstanding legal knowledge and skills, but also in depth knowledge and experience of the agriculture/food sector, as well as experience of advising the Belarusian Government. Most of the project activities will involve close team work; the Legal Consultant will be requested to lend experience and knowledge to PR activities and to all joint activities with the government, while also taking on research activities linked to the survey(s) implemented by the project. The primary focus of the work will be on close cooperation with government in order to initiate/implement regulatory changes.
 
Requirements/Qualifications:
· Masters or PhD in Law, or equivalent;
· Strong knowledge of the food safety policy issues and relevant Belarusian legislation;
· Experience in public administration, having dealt with private sector issues, highly desirable;
· Extensive work experience in conducting analysis of legislation and regulations;
· Hands-on experience in legislation drafting;
· Flexibility and creativity in working in a dynamic environment;
· Strong analytical skills;
· Strong oral and written communication skills;
· Active user of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
· An advanced command of Russian, English, and Belarusian;
· Willingness to travel frequently throughout Belarus and in the region.
